South Africans can book tickets for the new romantic adventure film VIR ALTYD from 4 Febuary 2016 from 12h00 onwards via Ster-Kinekor, the distributor of the film, which starts showing countrywide in South Africa on 12 February 2016.
As was the case with the box-office hit Pad na jou Hart, Ivan Botha and Donnalee Roberts play the lead roles and again combined strengths to write and co-produce the film through their production company 17FilmStreet Media.
Pad na jou Hart was one of the most successful South African films to date and earned more than R11 million at the local box office.
VIR ALTYD is a romantic adventure film that tells the story of Nina (Donnalee Roberts) who believes in fairy tales but despite her meticulous planning of her wedding day, her fiancé leaves her embarrassed and betrayed at the altar.
During a wild night of partying, brought on by shock and grief, Nina convinces Hugo (Ivan Botha) to go to Mauritius with her because she still insists on going on honeymoon – apart from the fact that she hasn’t seen Hugo for ten years.
Nina and Hugo had been best friends as children and teenagers, but after a tragedy, Hugo leaves the country and only returns to Paarl, his hometown, on the eve of Nina’s wedding.
In Mauritius, Nina and Hugo meet two married couples who slowly restore their belief in love – but who also ignite old wounds that still need to be healed.Together, Nina and Hugo go on an adventure that makes them realise that love isn’t about the white dress and the big day, but that every day is an opportunity to ensure that love endures forever…
The movie was filmed in the beautiful town of Paarl in the Western Cape and on the island of love, Mauritius during May and June in 2015.
The same crew who worked on Pad na jou Hart rejoined forces for VIR ALTYD, with Jaco Smit reprising his role as director and Danie Bester co-producing again.
VIR ALTYD is a film that will resonate with everyone who has experienced the different seasons of love in their lives – and who knows deep in their hearts that true love shouldn’t just last for a day or a month, but forever.
