Ten years for Taxi Violence

Taxi Violence are currently in the recording studio, hard at work on their fifth album. It will be a milestone album for the band, as the scheduled release date will coincide with their tenth birthday. Yes, Taxi Violence will be ten years old in September 2014.

Looking back at all Taxi’s achievements and accolades over the last decade, it’s difficult for the band to choose one big highlight. Having singles charting on radio stations in South Africa and Germany; headlining every major local festival; racking up five MK Awards and three SAMA nominations; touring abroad; supporting acts like Powderfinger, Billy Talent and Seether are just a few in a list of many accomplishments for the band.

Lead singer, George van der Spuy sums it up like this:
“Being in a band for ten years is something special and real. It means that we got together for the right reasons. It’s a great honour to be doing this for so long, and it’s all thanks to the people that have supported us over the years.”

Taxi Violence are preparing 11 brand new tracks for their tenth anniversary album. And staying true to their fiercely DIY attitude that has become synonymous with the band, they’ll be recording half of the album themselves at Van Der Spuy’s Cape Town studio, Kill City Blues during the month of May.

They have revealed that working on this album (still untitled) has brewed a sense of nostalgia within the camp, and excitement levels are at an all-time high. Watch this short teaser to share the #TV10 excitement:
