Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Loki Rothman burst on to the scene with his debut single “Light These Fires” in March 2013. This powerful debut single rapidly climbed local radio charts across South Africa, reaching the top #3 on the Highveld/KFM Take40SA Chart and #1 on the Bokradio top 40 to name a few.
As a guitarist Loki’s unique finger style and percussive features has gained him much attention, but he is also a skilled songwriter and music producer. Currently he is working alongside SAMA award winning producer Justin De Nobrega and has co-produced and co-written music for prominent artists such as Jack Parow, Toya Delazy, Die Antwoord, and many more. Most recently he wrote a track called “Strunk” with Die Antwoord that features on their new album Donker Mag.
As full-time guitarist for popular rapper Jack Parow, Loki has joined him on stage both locally and internationally, including shows in Moscow, Holland, Belgium and London. Loki also composed and co-produced Parow’s latest acoustic album Nag van die lang pette.
In his spare time Loki writes and produces music for television ads. He has also composed and recorded music for acclaimed theatre productions, including Hennie van Greunen’s Die Leo’s featuring renowned South African actors Sandra Prinsloo and Tobie Cronje among others.
After “Light these fires” Loki’s second single entitled “Clocks” was released and won a Bokradio Award for Best Music Video in 2014.
Working his way up to the much anticipated release of his debut album, “The Way Back”, he has just released his brand new single “Wheel Don’t Turn”.
As a guitarist Loki employs many styles but as a writer his influential genres include pop, contemporary, EDM and acoustic. His percussive guitar style and unique sound has become his trademark feature.
