THE CHALLENGE OF JOINING PEDAL WITH PURPOSE HAS INSPIRED THE HOSPICE DOCTOR JANET STANFORD TO ENTER THE 50 KM ROAD RACE.
“I cycle regularly but have never done more than 25 kilometers before. I would like to inspire people to support the work of our hospice which is to help those with life-limiting illnesses to achieve the best quality of life possible with the support of a holistic team trained in palliative care.
I am pedaling with purpose to:
- Raise awareness that access to pain control is a human right and that hospices’ holistic approach to pain and symptom control is able to address all the factors which contribute to pain and enable people in pain to live with dignity and quality.
- Raise funds for Hospice. We recognise that when someone has a chronic illness the expenses are high and the income sometimes diminishes, so we provide care at no cost to the patient and
- challenging myself, a person with hypertension and diabetes to be as healthy and active as possible.”
